In this OneHowTo article we share several easy DIY boho room décor ideas.

Hanging jar lanterns

Lighting can completely transform a space and affect your mood, so it is important that you consider how you want to lighting to be added to a room. Candles are perfect to bring a little bit of boho style to your décor. In this DIY you will be using candles and mason jars to create lamps for your room.

You will need:

  • a few mason jars
  • a few candles
  • some thick thread or metallic wiring
  • a wire cutter
  • some white sand
  • a hammer
  • some nails

The idea is to illuminate your room by hanging several jar lanterns around the wall structure at mid-wall length. Depending on the room size and the amount of artificial light you wish to add you will need more or less lanterns and candles.

First, you will need to place some sand into your jars followed by a candle. The sand helps stabilize the candle or if you use salt it will help make the candle last longer. Then attach the thread or wire around the top of your jar firmly and leave one end loose to hang to the wall. Finally, hammer a few nails on your wall and gently hang your lanterns over. Be careful with this last step and check that the nail is strong enough to hold the jar.

Jewelry picture frame

What a better way to decorate your space than by using your jewelry as a portrait. Not only would you be adding some boho touches to the room; but it works as a jewelry organizer as well.

You will need:

  • a large empty picture frame,
  • some wood paint,
  • a few thin tree sticks,
  • glue,
  • a hammer and,
  • a few nails.

First, paint your picture frame any color you want. After it dries up turn it upside down and place your tree sticks horizontally over your frame. Two or three will be enough. Leave some space in between and make sure that they are longer than the open area of your frame. Use some glue to stick the tree sticks horizontally onto the frame. Finally, hang it on your wall and start placing all your jewelry.

Mosaic decorations

The number CD and DVD sales has fallen over the past few years. As people just stream or download new songs you won’t find many artists selling many physical copies. If you have any old CDs or DVDs at home that are starting to get dusty, they are perfect for this boho DIY.

You will need:

  • white paper plates
  • old CDs and DVDs
  • glue
  • scissors (optional)

What you will be essentially doing is breaking up the CDs or DVDs into small pieces and then gluing them onto the plates in the shape of a mosaic. Once you fill up the plates and allow them to dry, decide if you want to use them as jewelry plates or perhaps work on creating a beautiful art piece to decorate your wallpaper.
