The first thing you need to do in order to repair wall cracks is to gather all the necessary equipment. Go to a paint or hardware store and purchase filling mastic to repair walls; the most popular is "Spackle".


Read the package instructions. There are different types of Spackle, some require pre-drying for sanding and others do not, so read carefully and follow the instructions given properly.


Avoid using it in large cracks or holes that are too deep. For these, it is better to use some kind of cement with water.


You will find that this filling mastic is very practical because it is fast drying, clean and relatively odorless.


Apply the filler with a spatula, filling the area in need of repair and avoiding getting air inside. Leave the surface smooth so that it needs to be sanded as little as possible.

If the hole is deep, you may have to apply the filler several times because when dry it can contract slightly.


To repair wall cracks most effectively, rub with a fine sandpaper with a grit of approximately 120. Depending on the type of caulk you have, do this step with the caulk still fresh or dry.

Make sure the filler it is completely dry before painting, otherwise it will not absorb the paint well.

You probably need to apply two coats of paint to match the wall color.
