Making a Homemade Insecticide for Mosquitoes

Along with the heat of summer, herds Mosquitoes also appear ready to bite you throughout your body. We all know the commercial mosquito repellents being sold in supermarkets, but in this OneHowTo article, we will show you how to make homemade insecticides for mosquitoes which are more economical and ecological.

Steps to follow:

Eucalyptus oil is a great mosquito repellent, especially if the oil is lemony. You can put a small amount in a glass and put it down near where you are. You can also mix about 15 drops of this oil into your regular shampoo or cream and use normally to ward off mosquitoes.

Both lemon and vinegar are repellents to mosquitoes. You can spread your body with an infusion of lemon, or put a glass of vinegar in the window of your room to create a homemade insecticide for mosquitos.

Lemon and clove spice are a very effective mosquito repellant. It is enough to cut a lemon in half and put a clove in each half leaving the head in the air. This way you get two insecticides for mosquitoes that can be placed in different rooms of the house.

Short basil leaf is one of the most hated plants by mosquitoes, so it's also a great repellent. Placing a basil plant in the room or in the house in which mosquitoes bother you and you will see them disappear. Of course, remember to water the plant regularly, because when watering basil it gives off more odour.

With a plastic bottle, 200 g. sugar, a pinch of yeast and warm water you can create an effective mosquito trap. Cut the bottle in half and mix water with sugar. When the water cools sprinkle yeast over, unmixed, and place the neck of the bottle upside down, like a funnel. Cover the bottom of the bottle with a black cloth and see how mosquitoes trapped inside.
