Steps to follow:
1

The first step to make a living wall with succulents is to measure your 2x4’s, put two big screws on each side, and staple the fabric and wire to the planting box’s bottom. Cut landscape fabric and hardware cloth for the back panel while leaving some room to staple. Secure landscape fabric’s corners first to ensure that it pulls tight. As the hardware cloth has sharp edges, it is safe to wear gloves during the process. Cut one more piece of the hardware cloth to secure on the front side. You may make the inner frame more beautiful by painting it in your desired color. It is best to color the inner frame before fixing the outer part. So, paint the inner frame, leave it to dry, and start working on the outer frame.

2

Take your reclaimed board and measure in such a way that it fits together on the inner frame like a picture frame. The main purpose of the outer frame is decoration, and it would suffice if it is not as sturdy as the inner one.

3

Cactus soil mix should be 1 part of perlite, 2 parts of sand and 4 parts of potting soil. You may use any regular peat moss or potting soil, but it should be light enough to allow good drainage. Fill this soil mix in the garden box and pour water on it. Keep it aside for 15 minutes and then add some more soil. Make sure that the planter is filled with soil until the hardware cloth.

4

Now that you have prepared the soil and the box, secure its outer frame and start laying out the plants. Mark the places where you want to fix the plants, and cut a little wire away to make space for the roots. Bend some wire around the places where you want to cut the wire and remove the soil. Use a spoon to dig out some soil from the places.

5

Now you can nail or screw your outer frame into the inner one. Use clamps for holding the frame in place. Leave the frame for 15 days, allowing the succulent plants to strengthen their roots. Otherwise, they will fall out.

6

With all the plants and soil, your succulent garden must have become quite heavy. So, make sure that you use strong hooks and brackets to fix it in place. Most succulent plants need watering only when their soil is completely dry. So, the living wall you have created looks beautiful, and requires minimum care and maintenance.
