Please note that you should not wash cashmere sweaters all the time. Of course, they need to be washed when they are dirty, but they should not be washed after a single wear. It's best to hand wash cashmere clothing whenever possible to prevent it from becoming misshapen or damaged. Follow these simple steps to ensure your garment stays like new for as long as possible:

  1. Before washing the garment, gently shake it out to loosen any dirt that may be stuck to it and turn it inside out.
  2. Fill a large bowl with warm water. The temperature of the water is a very important detail when caring for cashmere. Never use hot water as this will undoubtedly damage the delicate wool fibers. You should use cold to slightly warm water, but no more than 68 °F.
  3. Add 1-2 cupfuls of liquid hand soap for delicate garments, and do not use powdered soap. You can also wash the garment with a neutral shampoo. Be sure to stir it well before placing the garment so that the soap dissolves and forms a lather.
  4. Immerse the cashmere in the water without squeezing or rubbing it. Let it soak for a few minutes, depending on the degree of soiling, but do not overdo it. Over-soaking can cause the garment to warp. Do not leave the garment in the water for more than 15 minutes.
  5. In case there are any difficult stains, enhance the effect of the soap by gently massaging the garment with your fingers for a few more minutes.
  6. When you are ready to rinse your cashmere garment, pour out the container and fill it with clean water. Do not wring out the garment, instead, let the water soak in. You can also let the cashmere rest in the water for a few more minutes to loosen any soap residue.
  7. Finally, you need to remove the excess water from the garment and let it dry. When you empty the bowl, gently press the cashmere garment against one of the sides to remove as much water as possible. Do not turn the garment.
  8. Lay the cashmere on a clean towel and roll it up loosely with the garment in it. Leave it like this for a few minutes to allow as much moisture as possible to be released through the towel.
  9. Place the garment on another cloth or towel and let it dry naturally on a flat surface. Avoid hanging the garment or exposing it to the sun to prevent it from deforming. Instead, lay it out in a well-ventilated area. Even if it takes a little while to dry, it will be worth it because when the whole process is finished, it will look like new.

How to wash a cashmere garment with a washing machine:

Cashmere can be washed in the washing machine if you are in a hurry, and use a special cover for delicate laundry. If you do not have one, you can also put the garment in a pillowcase. Also, you need to choose a special washing program for delicate garments, so you do not wash them in the spin cycle or with hot water.
